  • I had it running for about 3 months. The site started slow, and then activity boosted all of a sudden. I moved from sharedhost to pacifichost's vps, hoping it will work better(the cost was 5 times higher with pacifichost's vps, I thought it should be fine). Turned out to be the opposite, and pacifichost killed the site completely.

Oh you like the new ACP theme for Mys v1.4.0? Thx, thats so good to know. The theme is just the very first step to the ACP overhaul project, you will be amazed at how powerful the new ACP will be by the time Mys v1.4.0 is released. If you want to take a look at the new code, go ahead and I wont stop you. They are quite complicated to beginners and noncoders, so dont get yourself dizzy. XD
Yeah, the problem is that the site was a video sharing social networking that needs to be online for almost 24/7.

And I saw you were looking at the Mys v1.3.x development thread. Did you see the new code? And did it 'scare' you?
There is not really one particular webhost suitable for everyone, it really depends on what your site is. $100 a month should not be a problem for young adults, you will get there someday.

Now I am just glad I finally got rid of them. Its weird though, usually a bad host that goes offline once or twice per day is not likely to kill your community, but for video sharing site its a different story. The damage is minor if you do not have an active community either.
Well I am using Webhostingbuzz for this dedicated server now, it costs more than $100 a month but I like it so far. Of course I have other sites hosted on this server too, the script alone does not need a powerful host like that.

I actually had a video sharing site hosted on a place called Pacifichost before, the service was... Well it completely killed the site, so you can imagine how bad it was. I have a way better host now, but whats lost is lost forever.
I see, what was your username on Myadopts btw? I suppose most Myadopts-native users here still visit MA more than Mysidia, but you are an exception.

Well yeah, its annoying if some webhosts still use PHP 5.2.17 since we will not be able to add PHP 5.3.x exclusive codes to the script.
Well yeah, you need to submit knowing how amazing a site it has become.

This hosting account expires on Sunday, so I have to do it anyway since I see no reason to renew it. I have a dedicated server running with PHP 5.3.10 now, so this shared server with PHP 5.2.17 can become history.
I see, so its about time to submit to directories? XD

Anyway I will shut down this support forum for about 12-36 hours starting from tonight, as I have to complete the hosting account and domain transfer soon. Just so you know.
Well you dont want to start over when you have a site with 500 members and a forum with 2500 posts in less than a month, but anyway its a matter of choice. I may choose to start over with my old adoptables site Pokemansion, but hey that one was using the ancient script v1.0.0. XD
I am not saying it is impossible for her to upgrade, I actually already figured out a way for her to do it manually. It just will be time consuming and painstaking, guess she doesnt want to go through all these troubles so instead she chose to start over. Mys v1.3.x indeed is much more advanced than Mys v1.2.x, but I am not sure if the difference is significant enough to start over lol.
I will show you screenshots tonight after I finish dinner(I am currently in my school's computer lab atm). Anyway its good to know the script is working out nicely for you, hopefully Iris will get it to work too. I dont know why it wont work for Silverdragontears though, but honestly I believe she should've stick to Mys v1.3.0 now that she has modified her codes considerably. You know you cant do a simple one-click upgrade when you have a highly customized site. XD
Yeah glad it works, but you still need to update forum statistics manually at least once per day, or it wont show newest members. XD
Okay, I'll go ahead and do that ;D And, nope, no Disney Land/World, did go to Busch Gardens though :D
Just letting you know that I am back from Vacation. If you need any shading to be done, just let me know :) Also, in regards to affiliating with Archurub, I have changed (again) the main focus of Archurub from spiders to skunks. If you would still like to affiliate, let me know, and could you tell me the dimensions of the stamp so that I can put one together?
